It is human nature to want to have things our way this cannot be denied. Even as Christians we carry this burden with us always to some extent. It is how we deal with this aspect of life that determines how much we actually accomplish in for the Lord.
This have my own way aspect effects us all and those we have contact with. As Christians we need to flee this attitude and instead have the type of attitude that says not my will but the Lords will be done.
By seeking the will of God you will find that even in the lowest times of life there is a comfort in the knowledge that even if we do not understand why a thing is happening that God knows why and if we seek Him that will give us the strength to continue.
Our way, says I want things to happen just so or I want this or that out of life. Our way, says I will attain what I want regardless of the cost. This is the time we need to remember Mat_6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. "All these things" are not the material things of the world around us but the necessities of life and when you think about it what more do you really need since these things of the world are temporary.
To many Christians today I think may not have their eyes on the true prize. I do not mean this to be insulting to anyone but there are those who still chase the next new bright shiny object and there is always one out there. We are taught clearly in the scripture that our treasure is to be built up in heaven not here on earth and the Lord said in Luk_6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Luk_12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
If we are seeking our own way and the adoration of those around us we have our reward already and friends it is not an eternal home with God. This is why there are so many different denominations in our world today it is the my own way syndrome that feeds error and causes division. Remember what the Psalmist said…. Psa 62:7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Psa 62:8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Psa 62:9 Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. Psa 62:10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
Psa 62:11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. Psa 62:12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.
Folks I implore you live each day as though it were your last for we know not when the Lord will come nor if our life will be required of us. Put away your own will and the my own way attitude and live for Christ our Lord and His will for us.
