God first?

I would like to make a point this morning that I and many others have made time and again that I think largely goes unheeded. God in His providence has allowed you another day in which to live. You will have time to work or play as you see fit. You will have time to shop, time to enjoy the beauty around you, time to share with friends and family. I ask you though how much of that time will you spend thanking God? How much of that time will you spend praying for others? how much of that time will you spend in study of God's word? How much of that time will you spend trying to teach someone else about Christ? How much of that time will you spend quietly in meditation of God's word?

You see folk's time here on this earth is but temporary. You really do not know if you will be alive tomorrow or even in ten minutes from now. You really do not know if Christ will return today, tomorrow, next week or next year. Yet, God has given you the opportunity now to do His will and to show forth as a light unto the rest of the world. Will you waste that opportunity?

As Christians we need to prioritize things in our lives. God should come first. If we do this no matter how hard Satan works against us we are assured that God will see us through. This is why David of old could say.."Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

Jesus, Himself to tells us that we need to prioritize things in our life Mat. 6:30-34 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Will you follow the writer of the book of Hebrews advice today? Heb_12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Where will you set your heart today? Will your eyes be fixed on the prize to come? Will you be seeking first the kingdom of God?

Think on these things……..
