Justifying Doctrine?

There will always be those who will strive to make the scriptures teach things they do not. Man for centuries now has tried to make the Bible say what they want it to. Rather than making sure what is taught is first justified in the word men create doctrines and then try to find justification by twisting scripture to say something it doesn't.

I have always said that if those of the first century could understand what was taught by the Apostles that surely we can as we have the written word right before us. We can rest assured that we have all we need to understand the will of our Creator. 2Pe_1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2Ti_3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The only way not to understand the word of God is to willfully twist it, ignore it, take it out of context to justify what we think it should say. Rather than coming up with something that sounds good to us and then trying to find justification for it we should be looking to do only those things already justified in the word of God.

1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. To prove a thing we must look first to the word. We need to take the example of the Breans and apply it…. Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Too often we allow things to be taught that sound good but are not justified by scripture and this happens because we either have not studied the word ourselves or because we think those teaching us are smarter because of their education. Some are afraid to stand up and say WAIT this is wrong. Whatever the reason it is not until we take a stand for proper teaching that these errors can be exposed. It is not until we study and learn from the simple teachings of the word what is right and wrong and start standing up against false teaching that things are going to change. So what if you are the only one that stands for the truth who do you want to be right in the sight of God or man?

I can not speak for anyone but myself but I will follow the words of Joshua Jos_24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

I pray you will too………………

  1. Can anyone give scripture to the new practice of "trunk of treat" and easter egg hunts put on by the local church?
    Thanks

    1. Artheta,

There is no such scripture for this “Trunk of treat” I have actually nrvr heard of it. There is also no scripture for Easter. We as Christians come together on the first day of the week to remember Christs death by partaking of the Lords Supper. Man made holidays such as these and Christmas ore simply noy authorized by God.
