Apathy

I can't count the times people have said "Oh, we love or church we have such a good preacher and good teachers of course we follow all the acts of worship and we even find a few days in the fall for a Gospel meeting and wow what good speakers we invite to come. We are so happy where we are." That is when I ask some simple questions, How many members are there in your assembly? How many were Baptized for the remission of their sins at last count? Are most of those who visit from other congregations or are they coming in from the community to hear Gods word? Lastly, do a lot of folks come to these Gospel meets you find a day or two for?

Most will say, Oh, we are just a small group maybe 15 or 20 on a good Sunday. There hasn't been many if any others Baptized in a while. Oh, and yes our visitors are all Christians maybe traveling or from closer congregations who want to visit. Our Gospel meeting sometimes range in the 30 people a night counting us and they are from other churches in the area.

Now I ask you what is wrong with this picture?

I will tell you it is called Apathy!

Too many Christians have become satisfied with the statuesque. They are not being taught that there is real work to do out there in the world and it is they who must do it. No matter the size of your assembly  you should never be satisfied with its size. Too many churches die out because of this. It is the members of the Lords church that must take the word to the lost. The preacher and elders and such can only do so much. YOU have to go out and make a difference.

You must be like a first century Christian when Saul was making havoc in the churches. Act 8:4  Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. YOU must take seriously the command to GO. Mar_16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

I want you to think hard about this and I want you to answer this question honestly.

How many souls will be lost because you sat back and became satisfied and let your apathy take control?
